Now Jethro, R598 the priest of Midian, Moses' father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel His people, how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.
Then Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and he R605 bowed down and kissed R606 him; and they asked R607 each other of their welfare and went into the tent.
Moses told his father-in-law all that the LORD had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for R608 Israel's sake, all the hardship R609 that had befallen them on the journey, and how the R610 LORD had delivered them.
So Jethro said, "Blessed R612 be the LORD who delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of Pharaoh, and who delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.
Then R615 Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God, and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat a F373 meal with Moses' father-in-law before God.
Now when Moses' father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, "What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit as judge and all the people stand about you from morning until evening?"
"You R618 will surely wear out, both yourself and these F375 people who are with you, for the task F376 is too heavy for you; you R619 cannot do it alone.
"Now listen to me: F377 I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You F378 be the people's representative before God, and you bring R620 the disputes F379 to God,
"Furthermore, you shall select F380 out of all the people able R623 men who R624 fear God, men of truth, those who hate R625 dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of F381 hundreds, of F381 fifties and of F381 tens.
"Let them judge the people at all times; and let it be that R626 every major dispute F382 they will bring to you, but every minor dispute F382 they themselves will judge. So it will be easier for you, and they R627 will bear the burden with you.
"If you do this thing and God so commands you, then you will be able to endure, F383 and all these F384 people also will go to their F385 place in peace."
Moses chose able R628 men out of all Israel and made them heads over the people, leaders of thousands, of F387 hundreds, of F387 fifties and of F387 tens.
They judged the people at all times; the R629 difficult dispute F388 they would bring to Moses, but every minor dispute F388 they themselves would judge.
