1 But realize this, that in R116 the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers R117 of self, lovers R118 of money, boastful, R119 arrogant, R119 revilers, R120 disobedient R119 to parents, ungrateful, R121 unholy, R1223 unloving, R123 irreconcilable, malicious R124 gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters R125F22 of good, 4 treacherous, R126 reckless, R127 conceited, R128 lovers R129 of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, R130F23 although they have denied R131 its power; Avoid R132 such men as these. 6 For among them are those who enter R133F24 into households and captivate weak R134F25 women weighed down with sins, led on by various R135 impulses, 7 always learning and never able to come R136 to the knowledge F26 of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes R137 and Jambres opposed R138 Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men R139 of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith. 9 But they will not make further progress; for their folly R140 will be obvious to all, just as R141 Jannes's F27 and Jambres's folly was also.
10 Now you followed R142 my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, R143 perseverance, F2811 persecutions, R144and sufferings, R145 such as happened to me at Antioch, R146 at Iconium R147and at Lystra; R148 what persecutions R149 I endured, and out of them all the R150 Lord rescued me! 12 Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will R151 be persecuted. 13 But evil men and impostors will R152 proceed from bad to worse, deceiving R153 and being deceived. 14 You, however, continue R154 in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,15 and that from R155 childhood you have known the R156 sacred writings which are able to give R157 you the wisdom that leads to salvation R158 through faith which is in Christ R159 Jesus. 16 All R160 Scripture is inspired F29 by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training F30 in righteousness; 17 so that the R161 man of God may be adequate, equipped R162 for every good work.
