Jesus Our High Priest 1 Therefore, holy R83 brethren, partakers of a heavenly R84 calling, consider Jesus, the R85 Apostle and High R86 Priest of our confession; R87 2 He F25 was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses R88 also was in all His house. 3 For R89 He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house. 4 For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. 5 Now Moses R90 was faithful in all His house as a R91 servant, for R92 a testimony of those things which R93 were to be spoken later; 6 but Christ was faithful as a R94 Son over His house--whose R95 house we are, if R96 we hold fast our confidence R97 and the boast of our hope R98 firm until the end. 7 Therefore, just as the R99 Holy Spirit says, "TODAY R100 IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, 8 DO R101 NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN F26 THEY PROVOKED ME, AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS, 9 WHERE R102 YOUR FATHERS TRIED Me BY TESTING Me, AND SAW MY WORKS FOR FORTY R103 YEARS. 10 "THEREFORE R104 I WAS ANGRY WITH THIS GENERATION, AND SAID, `THEY ALWAYS GO ASTRAY IN THEIR HEART, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW MY WAYS'; 11 AS R105 I SWORE IN MY WRATH, `THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST.' " The Peril of Unbelief 12 Take R106 care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that F27 falls away from the R107 living God. 13 But encourage R108 one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness R109 of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if R110 we hold fast the beginning of our assurance R111 firm until the end, 15 while it is said, "TODAY R112 IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS, AS WHEN F28 THEY PROVOKED ME." 16 For who provoked R113 Him when they had heard? Indeed, did R114 not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17 And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose R115 bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that R116 they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? R117 19 So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.
