24:1-23 - Study Chapter  - Click for Chapter Audio

1 Behold, the LORD lays R831 the earth waste, devastates it, distorts its surface and scatters its inhabitants. 2 And the people will be like the priest, the servant like his master, the maid like her mistress, the buyer like the seller, the lender like the borrower, the creditor R832 like the debtor. 3 The earth will be completely laid waste and completely despoiled, for the LORD has spoken this word. 4 The earth R833 mourns and withers, the world fades and withers, the exalted R834 of the people of the earth fade away. 5 The earth is also polluted R835 by F307 its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke R836 the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore, a curse R837 devours the earth, and those who live in it are held guilty. Therefore, the inhabitants R838 of the earth are burned, and few men are left. 7 The new R839 wine mourns, The vine decays, All the merry-hearted sigh. 8 The gaiety R840 of tambourines ceases, The noise of revelers stops, The gaiety of the harp ceases. 9 They do not drink wine with song; Strong R841 drink is bitter R842 to those who drink it. 10 The city R843 of chaos is broken down; Every R844 house is shut up so that none may enter. 11 There is an outcry R845 in the streets concerning the wine; All R846 joy turns F308 to gloom. The gaiety of the earth is banished. 12 Desolation is left in the city And the gate R847 is battered to ruins.

13 For thus R848 it will be in the midst of the earth among the peoples, As the shaking F309 of an olive tree, As the gleanings when the grape harvest is over. 14 They R849 raise their voices, they shout for joy; They cry out from the west F310 concerning the majesty of the LORD. 15 Therefore glorify R850 the LORD in the east, F311 The name R851 of the LORD, the God of Israel, In the coastlands R852 F312 of the sea.

16 From the ends R853 of the earth we hear songs, "Glory R854 to the Righteous One," But I say, "Woe R855 F313 to me! Woe F313 to me! Alas for me! The treacherous R856 deal treacherously, And the treacherous deal very treacherously." 17 Terror R857 and pit and snare Confront F314 you, O inhabitant of the earth. 18 Then it will be that he who flees the report F315 of disaster will fall into the pit, And he who climbs F316 out of the pit will be caught in the snare; For the windows R858 above F317 are opened, and the foundations R859 of the earth shake. 19 The R860 earth is broken asunder, The earth is split R861 through, The earth is shaken violently. 20 The earth reels R862 to and fro like a drunkard And it totters like a shack, F318 For its transgression R863 is heavy upon it, And it will fall, never R864 to rise again. 21 So it will happen in that day, That the LORD will punish R865 the host of heaven F319 on high, And the kings R866 of the earth on earth. 22 They will be gathered together Like prisoners R867 in the dungeon, F320 And will be confined in prison; And after many days they will be R868 punished. 23 Then the moon R869 will be abashed and the sun ashamed, For the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount R871 Zion and in Jerusalem, And His glory will be before His elders.

25:1-12 - Study Chapter  - Click for Chapter Audio

1 O LORD, You are my R872 God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked R873 wonders, Plans R874 formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness. 2 For You have made a city into a heap, R875 A fortified R876 city into a ruin; A palace R877 of strangers is a city no more, It will never be rebuilt. 3 Therefore a strong people will glorify R878 You; Cities R879 of ruthless nations will revere You. 4 For You have been a defense R880 for the helpless, A defense for the needy in his distress, A refuge R881 from the storm, a shade from the heat; For the breath of the ruthless R882 Is like a rain storm against a wall. 5 Like heat in drought, You subdue the uproar R883 of aliens; Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is silenced. F321

6 The R884 LORD of hosts will prepare a lavish F322 banquet for all R885 peoples on this mountain; A banquet of aged F323 wine, choice F324 pieces with marrow, And refined, F325 aged wine. 7 And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering R886 F326 which is over all peoples, Even the veil which is stretched F327 over all nations. 8 He will swallow R887 up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe R888 tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach R889 of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken.

9 And it will be said in that day, "Behold, this R890 is our God for whom we have waited R891 that He R892 might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; Let R893 us rejoice and be glad in His salvation." 10 For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain, And Moab R894 will be trodden down in his place As straw is trodden down in the water of a manure pile. 11 And he will spread R895 out his hands in the middle of it As a swimmer spreads out his hands to swim, But the Lord will lay R896 low his pride together with the trickery of his hands. 12 The unassailable R897 fortifications of your walls He will bring down, Lay low and cast to the ground, even to the dust.

26:1-21 - Study Chapter  - Click for Chapter Audio

1 In R898 that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: "We have a strong R899 city; He sets up walls and ramparts for security. R900 F329 2 "Open the gates, R901 that the righteous R902 nation may enter, The one that remains F330 faithful. 3 "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, R903 Because he trusts in You. 4 "Trust R904 in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock. R905

5 "For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable R906 city; He R907 lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust. 6 "The R908 foot will trample it, The feet of the afflicted, R909 the steps of the helpless." 7 The way R910 of the righteous is smooth; O Upright One, make R911 the path of the righteous level. 8 Indeed, while following the way of Your R912 judgments, O LORD, We have waited for You eagerly; Your R913 name, even Your memory, R914 is the desire of our souls. 9 At R915 night my F332 soul longs for You, Indeed, my F333 spirit within me seeks R916 You diligently; For when the earth experiences F334 Your judgments The inhabitants of the world learn R917 righteousness. 10 Though the wicked is shown favor, He does not learn R918 righteousness; He deals R919 unjustly in the land of uprightness, And does not perceive the majesty of the LORD. 11 O LORD, Your hand is lifted up yet they do R920 not see it. They F335 see Your R921 zeal for the people and are put to shame; Indeed, fire R922 F336 will devour Your enemies.

12 LORD, You will establish peace R923 for us, Since You have also performed for us all our works. 13 O LORD our God, other R924 masters besides You have ruled us; But through You alone we confess R925 F337 Your name. 14 The R926 dead will not live, the departed F338 spirits will not rise; Therefore You have punished R927 and destroyed them, And You have wiped out all remembrance of them. 15 You R928 have increased the nation, O LORD, You have increased the nation, You are glorified; You have extended R929 all the borders of the land. 16 O LORD, they sought You in R930 distress; They could F339 only whisper a prayer, Your chastening was upon them. 17 As R931 the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth, She writhes and cries out in her labor pains, Thus were we before You, O LORD. 18 We were pregnant, we writhed in labor, We gave R932 birth, as it seems, only to wind. We could not accomplish deliverance for the earth, Nor were inhabitants R933 of the world born. F340 19 Your dead R934 will live; Their F341 corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake R935 and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, F342 And the earth will give F343 birth to the departed F344 spirits.

20 Come, my people, enter R936 into your rooms And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while R937 F345 Until indignation R938 runs F346 its course. 21 For behold, the LORD is about to come R939 out from His place To punish R940 the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; And the earth will reveal R941 her bloodshed And will no longer cover her slain.

27:1-13 - Study Chapter  - Click for Chapter Audio

1 In that day the R942 LORD will punish Leviathan R943 F347 the fleeing serpent, With His fierce and great and mighty sword, Even Leviathan F347 the twisted serpent; And He R944 will kill the dragon who lives in the sea. 2 In that day, "A vineyard R945 F348 of wine, sing of it! 3 "I, the LORD, am its keeper; I R946 water it every moment. So that no one will damage F349 it, I guard R947 it night and day. 4 "I have no wrath. Should someone F350 give Me briars R948 and thorns in battle, Then I would step on them, I R949 would burn them completely. F351 5 "Or let him rely R950 F352 on My protection, Let him make peace with Me, Let him make R951 peace with Me." 6 In F353 the days to come Jacob will R952 take root, Israel will blossom R953 and sprout, And they will fill the whole F354 world with fruit. R954

7 Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has He R955 struck them? Or like the slaughter of His slain, have F355 they been slain? 8 You contended with them by F356 banishing them, by driving R956 them away. With His fierce wind He has expelled them on the day of the east R957 wind. 9 Therefore through this Jacob's iniquity will be forgiven; R958 And this will be the F357 full price of the pardoning R959 F358 of his sin: When he makes all the altar R960 stones like pulverized chalk stones; When Asherim F359 and incense altars will not stand. 10 For the fortified city is isolated, R961 A homestead F360 forlorn and forsaken like the desert; There R962 the calf will graze, And there it will lie down and feed F361 on its branches. 11 When its limbs R963 are dry, they are broken off; Women come and make a fire with them, For they are not a people of discernment, R964 Therefore their R965 Maker will R966 not have compassion on them. And their Creator will not be gracious to them. 12 In that day the LORD will R967 start His threshing from the flowing stream of the Euphrates R968 to the brook of Egypt, and you will be gathered R969 up one by one, O sons of Israel. 13 It will come about also in that day that a great trumpet R970 will be blown, and those who were perishing in the land of Assyria R971 and who were scattered in the land of Egypt will come and worship R972 the LORD in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.
