God, a Helper against the Treacherous.
For the choir director; upon F113 an eight-stringed lyre. A Psalm of David.
1 Help, LORD, for the R266 godly man ceases to be,
For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
2 They speak R267 falsehood F114 to one another;
With flattering R268 lips F115 and with a double heart they speak.
3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips,
The tongue that speaks R269 great things;
4 Who have R270 said, "With our tongue we will prevail;
Our lips are our F116 own; who is lord over us?"
5 "Because of the devastation R271 of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy,
Now I R272 will arise," says the LORD; "I will set R273 him in the safety for which he longs."
6 The words R274 of the LORD are pure words;
As silver tried R275 in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.
7 You, O LORD, will keep them;
You will preserve R276 him from this generation forever.
8 The wicked R277 strut about on every side
When vileness R278 F117 is exalted among the sons of men. FOOTNOTES:
F113: Or poor
F114: Or May You seek
F115: Or afflicted
