1 Then R793 one of the seven R794 angels who had the seven R795 bowls came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here, I will show you the R796 judgment of the great R797 harlot who sits R798 on many waters, 2 with whom the R799 kings of the earth committed acts of immorality, and those R800 who dwell on the earth were made R801 drunk with the wine of her immorality." 3 And he R802 carried me away in R803F184 the Spirit into R804 a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet R805 beast, full of blasphemous R806 names, having seven R807 heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was R808 clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned F185 with gold and precious stones F186 and pearls, having in her hand a R809 gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality, 5 and on her forehead a name was written, a mystery, R810 "BABYLON R811 THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE R812 ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." 6 And I saw the woman drunk with the R813 blood of the saints, F187 and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered greatly. F188
7 And the angel said to me, "Why do F189 you wonder? I will tell you the mystery R814 of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven R815 heads and the ten horns. 8 "The R816 beast that you saw was, R817 and is not, and is about to come R818 up out of the abyss R819 and go R820F190 to destruction. And those R821 who dwell on the earth, whose R822 name has not been written in the book of life from R823 the foundation of the world, will wonder R824 when they see the beast, that he was and is not and will come. 9 "Here R825 is the mind which has wisdom. The seven R826 heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits, 10 and they are seven kings; R827 five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; and when he comes, he must remain a little while. 11 "The beast which was R828 and is not, is himself also an eighth and is one of the seven, and he goes R829 to destruction. 12 "The ten R830 horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but they receive authority as kings with the beast for R831 one hour. 13 "These have one R832 purpose, F191 and they give their power and authority to the beast.
14 "These will wage war R833 against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome R834 them, because He is Lord R835 of lords and King R835 of kings, and those R836 who are with Him are the called R837 and chosen and faithful." 15 And he said to me, "The waters R838 which you saw where the harlot sits, are peoples R839 and multitudes and nations and tongues. 16 "And the ten R840 horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her desolate R841 and naked, R842 and will eat R843 her flesh and will burn R844 her up with fire. 17 "For God R845 has put it in their hearts to execute His purpose F192 by F193 having R846 a common purpose, and by giving their kingdom to the beast, until the words R847 of God will be fulfilled. 18 "The woman whom you saw is the R848 great city, which reigns F194 over the kings of the earth."
1 After these things I saw another angel R849 coming R850 down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illumined R851 with his glory. 2 And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, "Fallen, R852F195 fallen is Babylon the great! She has R853 become a dwelling place of demons and a prison F196 of every unclean R854 spirit, and a prison F196 of every unclean and hateful bird. 3 "For all the nations have F197 drunk of the wine R855 of the passion F198 of her immorality, and the R856 kings of the earth have committed acts of immorality with her, and the merchants R857 of the earth have become rich by the wealth F199 of her sensuality." R858F2004 I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come R859 out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues; 5 for her sins have piled R860F201 up as high as heaven, and God has remembered R861 her iniquities. 6 "Pay R862 her back even as she has paid, and give F202 back to her double according to her deeds; in the cup R863 which she has mixed, mix twice as much for her. 7 "To R864 the degree that she glorified herself and lived R865 sensuously, F203 to the same degree give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, `I R866 SIT as A QUEEN AND I AM NOT A WIDOW, and will never see mourning.' 8 "For this reason in R867 one day her plagues will come, pestilence F204 and mourning and famine, and she will be burned R868 up with fire; for the Lord God who judges her is R869 strong.
9 "And the R870 kings of the earth, who committed acts of immorality and lived R871 sensuously F205 with her, will weep R872 and lament over her when they see R873 the smoke of her burning, 10 standing R874 at a distance because of the fear of her torment, saying, `Woe, R875 woe, the R876 great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one R877 hour your judgment has come.' 11 "And the merchants R878 of the earth weep R879 and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargoes any more-- 12 cargoes of gold R880 and silver and precious stones F206 and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and bronze F207 and iron and marble, 13 and cinnamon and spice F208 and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and slaves F209 and human R881F210 lives. 14 "The fruit you F211 long for has gone from you, and all things that were luxurious and splendid have passed away from you and men will no longer find them. 15 "The merchants R882 of these R883 things, who became rich from her, will stand R884 at a distance because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, 16 saying, `Woe, R885 woe, the R886 great city, she who was R887 clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet, and adorned F212 with gold and precious stones F213 and pearls; 17 for in one R888 hour such great wealth has been laid waste!' R889 And every R890 shipmaster and every passenger F214 and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea, stood R888 at a distance, 18 and were crying R891 out as they saw R892 the smoke of her burning, saying, `What R893 city is like the R894 great city?' 19 "And they threw dust R895 on their heads and were crying out, weeping and mourning, saying, `Woe, R896 woe, the great city, in which all who had ships at sea became R897 rich by her wealth, F215 for in one R896 hour she has been laid waste!' R89820 "Rejoice R899 over her, O heaven, and you saints F216 and apostles R900 and prophets, because God R901 has pronounced F217 judgment for you against her." 21 Then a F218 strong R902 angel took R903 up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, "So will Babylon, the R904 great city, be thrown down with violence, and will R905 not be found any longer. 22 "And the R906 sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman of any craft will be found in you any longer; and the sound R907 of a mill will not be heard in you any longer; 23 and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer; and the voice R908 of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your merchants R909 were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by R910 your sorcery. 24 "And in her was found the blood R911 of prophets and of saints F219 and of all R912 who have been slain on the earth."
