So the LORD said to him, "Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him seven times as much." And the LORD placed a mark on Cain, so that no one finding him would kill him.

Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth.

And the water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered.

But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it on both their shoulders and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father's nakedness.

Then they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, from the small to the great, so that they became weary of trying to find the doorway.

now behold, this town is near enough to flee to, and it is small. Please, let me escape there (is it not small?) so that my life may be saved."

"Come, let's make our father drink wine, and let's sleep with him so that we may keep our family alive through our father."

On the following day, the firstborn said to the younger, "Look, I slept last night with my father; let's make him drink wine tonight too, then you go in and sleep with him, so that we may keep our family alive through our father."

Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his female slaves, so that they gave birth to children.

He said, "You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand so that it may be a witness for me, that I dug this well."

"I am a stranger and a foreign resident among you; give me a burial site among you so that I may bury my dead out of my sight."
