William Shakespeare wrote a play with the title, "Much Ado About Nothing." In our world today we have some rather glaring instances of just that. Many things are overblown and made more extravagant and important than necessary. Kind of like awards shows devised by the people who will receive the awards so they can have a televised special to give out the awards and make money doing something for themselves. And people watch.

The old Cleveland Browns franchise is one of a handful of franchises that has won the National Football League Championship four times. But all I hear as a Browns' fan is that they have never won the Super Bowl. All the Super Bowl is, is an overblown production of the NFL Championship Game. Which technically means that the Green Bay Packers have only won one Super Bowl since the first two Super Bowls were not called Super Bowls, but the AFC-NFC Championship Game.

In 2001 Jason Bohn shot a 58 at the Huron Oaks Country Club in Sarnia, Ontario during the Canadian Tour Bayer Championship. A 58. No one else has shot a 58 in tournament play on any of the professional tours. However, he was thirteen under par for the round as par on the Huron Oaks course is 71. Al Geiberger shot a 59 for the first professional tour 59 ever shot. But he did it on a course that had a par of 72. He was thirteen under par. Again, technically Jason Bohn has done nothing that anyone else has not done. He simply tied Al Geiberger with a thirteen under par score.

So many things are simply overblown because they fit a certain criteria for acceptability as an overblown item. In short, the American public buys it so it's okay. National Holidays are this way. Most people do not celebrate them other than to take the day off from work at their employer's behest. God stepped into the lives of His creation and gave them a way to worship Him. It's called religion. Sadly, other so-called gods have been introduced to the point where religion is just another overblown part of society which it can take or leave and God is greatly ignored.

Sadly, this sense of overblown religious fervor has left man with practical atheism. "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God." Psalm 14:1, 2 The Super Bowl is just a professional sports championship game. Jason Bohn's 58 is just a good score. And God is just the one true living God who made heaven and earth and gave His Son to save your soul. Which is most worthy of our adulation and devotion?
