Holman Bible DictionaryMeni
(mee' nee) Personal name meaning, “to count” or “to apportion.” God of good luck worshiped together with the god Gad by Jewish apostates, probably in the postexilic period (Isaiah 65:11 NAS margin). The god is possibly identical with Manat, a diety worshiped by the Arabs before the rise of Islam. The KJV translated the god's name as “that number.” Modern translations prefer the translation “Destiny.”
