(jay' ahr) Place name meaning, “forest.” Modern versions' transliteration of Hebrew in Psalm 132:6 (TEV reads, Jearim, a plural form.) KJV translates, “wood.” Jaar is probably a poetic abbreviation for Kiriath-jearim. See Kiriath-jearim . The Psalm celebrates David's returning the ark to Jerusalem from its Philistine captivity (compare 1 Samuel 7:2; 2 Samuel 6:1; 1 Chronicles 13:5 ).
