(Strong's #657 — Verb — apotasso — ap-ot-as'-som-ahee )

is used in the Middle Voice to signify "to bid adieu to a person." It primarily means "to set apart, separate" (apo, "from," tasso, "to set, arrange"); then, "to take leave of, to bid farewell to," Mark 6:46 (RV); Luke 9:61; "to give parting instructions to," Acts 18:18,21; 2 Corinthians 2:13; "to forsake, renounce," Luke 14:33 . (Strong's #575 782 — preposition — apaspazomai — apo' )

"to bid farewell" (apo, "from," aspazomai, "to greet"), is used in Acts 21:6 , AV, "had taken our leave of;" RV, "bade ... farewell."
