1. properly, with mention of the place whence: ἀπό, Matthew 20:29; Mark 10:46; ἐξο (τῆς πόλεως), Mark 11:19; ἐκ, Mark 13:1; ἐκεῖθεν, Mark 6:11; παρά τίνος, from one's abode, one's vicinity, John 15:26 (ἀκούσωμεν τά ἐκπορευόμενα παρά κυρίου, Ezekiel 33:30); without mention of the place whence or whither, which must be learned from the context: Luke 3:7; Acts 25:4; with mention of the end to which: ἐπί τινα, Revelation 16:14; πρός τινα, Matthew 3:5; Mark 1:5; ἐκπορεύεσθαι εἰς ὁδόν, to go forth from some place into the road (or on his way, cf. ὁδός, 1 b.), Mark 10:17; on Acts 9:28 see εἰσπορεύομαι, 1 a. demons, when expelled, are said to go out (namely, from the human body): Matthew 17:21 R G L; Acts 19:12 G L T Tr WH. BGU IV. 1078.4 (A.D. 39) οὐ καλῶς δὲ ἐπόησας ἐκπορευομένων πολλῶν φίλων μὴ σημᾶναί μοι. The verb is similarly used of the messengers by whom a letter was carried in P Iand 10.3 (iii/A.D.) ἐπένσαμέν σοι ταύτην τὴν ἑπ ]ιστολὴν διὰ τῶν φυλάκων ἐκπορευομένων. Cf. also P Leid Wviii. 17 (ii/iii A.D.) ἄνοιγε, ἄνοιγε τὰ δ ̄ μέρη τοῦ κόσμου, ὅτι ὁ κύριος τῆς οἰγουμένης ἐκπορεύεται. The act. is found in P Par 37.11 (ii/B.C.) ἐκπορ [ευ ]όντων δὲ τῶν φυλακιτῶν.
