III Act. ὀρχέω, make to dance (v. Pl. Cra. 407a), is used by Ion Trag. 50, ἐκ τῶν ἀέλπτων μᾶλλον ὤρχησεν φρένας made my heart leap (so codd. Ath., ὤρχησαι Nauck); but ὀρκῆσι in Ar. Th. 1179 is a barbarism for ὀρχῆται.

 ὀρχέομαι, ὀρχοῦμαι: 1aorist ὠρχησαμην; (from χορός, by transposition ὄρχος; cf. ά῾ρπω, ἁρπάζω, and Latin rapio, μορφή and Latin forma; (but these supposed transpositions are extremely doubtful, cf. Curtius, § 189; Fick 4:207,167. Some connect ὀρχέομαι with the root, argh, 'to put in rapid motion'; cf. Vanicek, p. 59)); to dance: Matthew 11:17; Matthew 14:6; Mark 6:22; Luke 7:32. (From Homer down; the Sept. for רָקַד, 1 Chronicles 15:29; Sirach 3:4; 2 Samuel 6:21.)
