Qal go about (maliciously, as slanderer; compare Arabic and slanderer, from √ √ wallk along, walk quickly), slander, Perfect 3 masculine singular עַללֿשֹׁנוֺ׳לאֹרֿ Psalm 15:3, he talks no slander upon his tongue ("" דֹּבֵר אֱמֶת Psalm 15:2).

Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

רָגַל pr. to move the feet, to go, to tread (denom. from רֶגֶל, cogn. to רָכַל), specially

(1) to go about, to calumniate and slander; hence to calumniate, Psalms 15:3.

(2) to tread upon garments which are to be washed and cleansed from dirt; hence רֹגֵל a washer, a fuller. See the pr.n. עֵין רֹגֵל and רֹגְלִים.

Piel, i.q. Kal, to go about

(a) to calumniate, 2 Samuel 19:28 followed by בְּ of pers.

(b) in order to explore; to explore; followed by an acc. Joshua 14:7; Judges 18:2, 14 Judges 18:14, 17 Judges 18:17; 2 Samuel 10:3, etc. Part. מְרַגֵּל a spy, an explorer, Genesis 42:9, seq.; Joshua 6:22.

Tiphel תִּרְגֵּל i.q. Syr. ܫܪܰܓܶܠ to teach to go, to lead (children) by the hand, Hosea 11:3.
