 [שָׂעַר] verbdenominative bristle, with horror; —

Qal Perfect 3 plural שָֽׂעֲרוּ שַׂעַר Ezekiel 27:35 ("" שָׁמַם עַל, רָֽעֲמוּ); Imperfect 3 masculine plural יִשְׂעֲרוּ עָלַיךָ שַׂעַר Ezekiel 32:10 ("" שָׁמַם Hiph`il); Imperative masculine plural שַׂעֲרוּ Jeremiah 2:12 ("" שֹׁמּוּ עַלֿ). — Deuteronomy 32:17 see III. שׂער.

II. [שָׂעַר] verb sweep or whirl away (of storm-wind) (= סָעַר, q. v.; Assyrian šâru, wind, Dl HWB 635; >Thes1334 compare I. שׂער); —

Qal Imperfect 3 masculine singular suffix יִשְׂעָרֶנּוּ Psalm 58:10 figurative he (׳י) shall sweep it away.

Niph`al Perfect 3 feminine singular impersonal נִשְׂעֲרָה Psalm 50:3 round about him it is tempestuous exceedingly.

Pi`el Imperfect 3 masculine singular suffix וִישַׂעֲרֵ֫הוּ Job 27:21 and it [an east wind] shall whirl him away from (מִן) his place.

Hitph. Imperfect 3 masculine singular וְיִשְׂתָּעֵרעָלָיו Daniel 11:40 the king shall storm against him.

III. [שָׂעַר] verb perhaps be acquainted with (Arabic perceive [Sabean שער id.? Hom Chrest. 124]; compare Aramaic סְעַר, , visit, inspect, Ba Esther 67 RS in Dr Dt Perles Anal. 79); —

שָׂעַר i.q. םָעַל, שָׁעַר

(1)  to shudder, to quiver, Gr. φρίσσω, φρίττω, Germ. fchauern, fchaudern (Engl. to shudder, to shiver), prop. used of the motion and creeping of the skin of a person terror-stricken, Ezekiel 27:35; Jeremiah 2:12 followed by עַל of the cause, Ezekiel 32:10 followed by an acc. like Gr. φρίσσω τινά, to shudder at, i.e. to feel a sacred awe, Deuteronomy 32:17. Also used of the hair standing on end (see שֵׂעָר, שַׂעֲרָה, שָׂעִיר, שְׂעֹרָה ).

(2) used of the commotion of a storm or tempest, see Piel. Followed by an acc. to sweep away in a storm (wegftürmen), Psalms 58:10.

Niphal, impers. to be fierce as a tempest (es ftürmt), Psalms 50:3.

Piel, to sweep away in a storm, Job 27:21.

Hithpael, to rush like a tempest, Daniel 11:40, compare םָעַר Habakkuk 3:14.
