Basic Gospel with Bob Christopher, Bob Davis and Richard Peifer

Weekend Edition 138

Saturday, March 17, 2018

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis and Richard Peifer

Chapter 8 is a pivot point in the book of Hebrews. In chapter 7 we learned that when there is a change in the priesthood there must be a change in the law. Today we look at the new law - the New Covenant - that Jesus ushered in. Jesus is the Son of God, far superior to any other messenger; therefore, his message is far superior to any other. The Old Covenant has been set aside and has given way to the New Covenant.

One or Many Ways to God - Thursday, March 15, 2018

The question is this: Is there only one way or many ways to God? That's a fiery debate in the world. The argument that there are many ways to God is wrong. The exclusive claim to God is made by Jesus Christ - "I am the way, the truth and the life". There is only one place to find life for those who are spiritually dead - Jesus Christ the life-giver.

* Acts 19 Did we receive the Holy Spirit when we believed?

* 2 Cor. 5:10 Is there a judgment for believers?

* Was Satan here before Adam?

* Why did God create us?

Made Alive in Christ - Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Through the resurrection, Jesus abolished death and brought life and immortality for all who believe, Today we learned that Stephen Hawking has died. Mr. Hawking came to the conclusion that there was no God and that everything in the world could be explained and came from science. We know that as great a scientist as Mr. Hawking was, the only way to receive eternal life is through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ Jesus.

* Do you see any comparison between Exodus 12 and Psalm 105:37?

* Mark writes, "I don't think Jesus told us to give to church building funds or to pay anyone to teach his Gospel."

Beyond the Grave - Tuesday, March 13, 2018

For our faith to have value it has to be connected to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus testified to his disciples about his resurrection several times. But the disciples refused to believe it. And even when they found the tomb empty they didn't look for the risen Christ, but looked for those that might have stole the body. Are you still looking for the living among the dead?

*Mark wants to know what the role of the Holy Spirit is in his life. And, do we pray to the Holy Spirit?

*Paco wants to know the historical and chronological doctrine of the rapture.

It's All About Jesus - Monday, March 12, 2018

Bob shares about the Simply Jesus weekend in Chicago. There's nothing better than to share the reality of Jesus' finished work on the cross and the reality of the resurrection.

* Derron asks about the parable of the sower and the seeds.

* How do animals fit into Christ's sacrifice for us or does it at all?

* Why does God seem so different in the Old Testament verses the New Testament?

So Great a Salvation, Part 9 - Friday, March 9, 2018

Chapter 7 of Hebrews gives us deep insight into Jesus as our high priest and the New Covenant. God wants us to know for sure that Jesus Christ is his final word to man. There's no higher word, no greater word, or life-changing word than what we experience in Christ Jesus. We don't live in the Old Covenant  - we live in the New Covenant because of the work of Christ Jesus.

The Hope of the Resurrection - Thursday, March 8, 2018

Christianity hinges on the resurrection. And just as God raised Jesus from the dead, we too shall be raised. It is the resurrection of Jesus Christ that gives us hope. That hope shapes how we act and live today. It elevates our thinking. As we start looking toward Jesus and what he has done it infuses hope in the midst of any circumstance. John 11:25-27

Do You Believe This? - Wednesday, March 7, 2018

Our key verse for today is John 11:25: Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" This same question is asked today of each one of us. The indestructible life of Christ is given to us. And his life is our eternal life.

* Can you discuss Calvinism an other theologies?

* What does it mean to fall from grace?

* It seems that many denominations agree on the basics, but then say their theology is right and that God is only in their church.

The Hope of the Gospel - Tuesday, March 6, 2018

The resurrection can be a hard fact to grasp. We see that in the Gospels as Jesus shares what's about to happen - his death, burial, and resurrection. In Matthew 17:22,23 we read, "As they were gathering in Galilee, Jesus said to them, 'The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.'" and the disciples' reaction: "...they were greatly distressed." Have you grabbed hold of the hope of the Gospel?

* What do I say to a person who believes the Adam and Eve story is just an illustration demonstrating that we can choose right or wrong?

* Join Bob Christopher and Andrew Farley for Simply Jesus - Chicago, March 8-9

* If God knows what we think and do before we do it, why did he put the temptation in the garden, in the beginning? Can that question be answered?

Christianity Hinges on This Event - Monday, March 5, 2018

Everything in the Christian faith hinges on the single event of the resurrection. Matthew 16:21 " From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised." Here's the Gospel story. Through Christ's death, burial, and resurrection he will bring salvation to those who believe.

* Are the instructions in 1 Thessalonians 5 commandments?

* Jim asks for Bob's explanation of Proverbs 25:25.

* The dead in Christ will rise again but so will the dead outside of Christ, and then the judgement. What do you think?

* Darrell asks, "what happened to Jesus between his death and resurrection"?
