Dr. James Burton Coffman

James Burton Coffman (1905-2006) was a renowned American minister, biblical scholar, and commentator on the Bible. Born on January 19, 1905, in Taylor County, Texas, Coffman grew up in a devoutly religious family and was drawn to the ministry from an early age.

In 1924, Coffman enrolled at Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University), where he studied Bible and ministry. After graduating in 1928, he began his career as a minister and preacher, serving congregations in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

Throughout his career, Coffman remained deeply committed to the study of the Bible, and he soon developed a reputation as a skilled biblical scholar and commentator. In 1954, he began publishing a series of commentaries on the Bible, which quickly gained popularity among Christians of all denominations.

Coffman's commentaries were characterized by their thorough analysis of the text, as well as their practical application to everyday life. He emphasized the importance of understanding the historical and cultural context of the Bible, and he provided detailed explanations of difficult passages and concepts.

In addition to his work as a commentator, Coffman was also a prolific writer and author, and he produced numerous works on theology and other subjects.
