David Guzik Commentary on the Bible

Matthew 1

As of July 24, 2017, is no longer allowed to host the David Guzik commentary.

In early 2003, I made a decision to use's popularity and resources to help a relatively unknown commentary get greater exposure and in turn help a ministry grow.

Since then it has become the most popular commentary on the site with over 10 million visitors, viewing over 25 million pages of text, have used it to prepare sermons, Sunday School lessons and bible studies.

Now, after 14 years, the board of Enduring Word, the non-profit corporation setup to oversee and control the copyright, has asked for it's removal. A reason given was that they had invested heavily in revising, reformatting and expanding the commentary and felt the need to control the copyright by keeping it on their site, "under one roof".

The other reason involves money. The fact that displays ads means that we are using the commentary "to generate ad revenue". However, 70% of the overall ad revenue generated goes to pay for bandwidth, maintenance and equipment. I don't have the luxury of creating a non-profit organization since I live and work in Poland.

I am diligently looking for an author to replace this commentary. In the meantime, as an alternative, I would suggest that you discover the writing of Dr. Burton Coffman and Dr. Thomas Constable. Both hold doctorates from major Bible institutes. You will find them as refreshing as David Guzik's commentary.
