מַרְחֶשְׁוָן

Don't worry about tomorrow—tomorrow will worry about itself (Matthew 6:34).

O if morgen zol Got zorgen ("Let God worry about tomorrow"). This Yiddish phrase rhymes beautifully. Oh that we could learn Yiddish!

We can "what-if" our day away. There is the story of a man who had an apple stand. Next to him was another apple stand. Day after day he was being outsold and his income kept decreasing. He went to the rabbi and told him the dilemma. The rabbi went to the stand, saw what was happening, and told the man to increase the price of his apples over that of his competitor. Soon people began to buy more and more apples from him. He went to his rabbi, told him the story and asked why people would pay more. The rabbi said, "It was not the quality of your apples but the nature of your attitude. Your face and disposition devalued the way you looked at people and your product. Your worry pushed your customers away."

Worry can permeate our entire being. Not only will it push people away, it can also immobilize us emotionally. Let us cast our cares on Yeshua, for he cares for us.

...listen to what the Lord is saying to me about my situation and allow him to speak into my worry.
