Voice of the Lord
Hagar! Sarai's slave-girl! Where have you come from, and where are you going? (Genesis 16:8)
When God came to Hagar with this important question, she was standing at a crossroads in her life. Her mistress Sarai had sent her away and she was facing an uncertain future. What would she do? Where would she go?
God had a plan for Hagar, as he does for each of us. But for Hagar to discover it, she would first need to understand where she had come from and where the Lord was calling her to go.
Where did you come from? Where were you when Messiah called out to you and came into your life? From what circumstances did he deliver you? Remembering who we were before we met him helps us guard against attitudes of self-righteousness, ingratitude and pride, and reminds us to stay close to Yeshua.
Where are you going? God has a purpose for your life that only you can fulfill. Understanding that purpose can give us meaning and direction. Not knowing it can result in idleness, spiritual lethargy and indifference. Ask the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) and he will reveal the destiny Messiah has for you. Salvation is only the beginning of the journey!
...remember where I came from and ask the Lord to show me where I am going.
