Voice of the Lord
Even the dogs eat the leftovers that fall from their master's table (Matthew 15:27).
Humility is spiritual strength, not weakness. In the above Scripture, the Syrophoenician woman humbly acknowledges her social position. She is a Gentile woman who must wait in line behind the Jewish children to be fed. Rather than protest the unfairness of her situation, or become indignant that Yeshua doesn't bother to answer her the first time, the woman again cries out for help. This time, Yeshua responds by saying that he was sent to the house of Israel. Would she have him feed the children's food to a dog? Her humility is tested. She answers that even a dog feeds on the crumbs that fall to the floor! Could you continue to plead your case after being compared to a dog? Touched by her humility, Yeshua immediately grants her request to heal her daughter.
Our dog is a husky boxer who loves to go for car rides. Long ago, he gave up insisting on accompanying us into restaurants. Our dog is content with his car ride. He is happy with his lot. Are you content with your own lot in life?
...be happy about my position in life and stop comparing myself to others.
