Voice of the Lord
True religion does bring great riches, but only to those who are content with what they have (1 Timothy 6:6).
Az me ken nit vi me vil, tut men vi me ken is Yiddish for "If you can't do as you wish, do as you can." The high-tech action movies of the nineties have left a certain impression on me. Although the hero may be a capable person or a shlemiel (a person prone to doing foolish things), he always manages to do one great thing. The movie ends and I go home also wanting to do a single great thing in my life.
Do you know much about the disciple Andrew? Very little is said of him in the Brit Chadashah (New Covenant Scriptures). Guess who found his brother Shim'on (Simon Peter) and brought him to Yeshua? Later, when there was no food for the multitude on the mountain, and everyone was trying to figure out how to feed the crowds, it was Andrew who found the lad with a few fish and some bread (John 6:8-9). What do you think the people said to him? "Are you mishugah (crazy)? It's not enough!" But look at what happened because of Andrew's behind-thescenes work.
Being alert to what is needed to acomplish God's work can make us all great in the Kingdom. As humble servants, we can all be heroes.
