Yeshua deserves more honor than Moshe [Moses] (Hebrews 3:3).

The rabbis teach that Moshe Rabbeynu (Moses our Rabbi) is the greatest of all the prophets of Israel. They go on to say that the Rambam (Moses Maimonides) is the next greatest. There's a rabbinic saying, "From Moses to Moses, there is none like Moses." In other words, between Moses the giver of Torah and Moses Maimonides, there has been none greater. The author of the book of Hebrews tells us otherwise. We are told that Yeshua "deserves more honor than Moshe" (Hebrews 3:3).

Moshe's glory began to fade after he came down from Mount Sinai. But of Yeshua we read, "We saw his Sh'khinah [Glory], the Sh'khinah as of the Father's only Son" (John 1:14). Moshe was a faithful member of the house of Israel, but Yeshua is the builder of the house of Israel. Moshe was the servant; Yeshua is the Son. Moshe spoke of the future, Yeshua fulfilled all the promises from the past. "The Torah was given through Moshe; grace and truth came through Yeshua the Messiah" (John 1:17).

There have been times when I've handed out gospel tracts, wearing a Jews for Jesus T-shirt, and Orthodox Jews have come up to me and said, "We are Jews for Moses." Now I respond by saying, "If you really were Jews for Moses, you'd be for Yeshua, too." Yeshua said, "If you really believed Moshe, you would believe me; because it was about me that he wrote" (John 5:46). If we properly honor Moshe Rabbeynu, all the glory will go to Messiah Yeshua.

...make a commitment to glorify Yeshua—Israel's greatest prophet, my Rabbi and Savior, and the Messiah.
