Voice of the Lord
The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger can share its joy (Proverbs 14:10).
A certain Jewish play opens with a scene inside a synagogue. Two old Jewish men are sitting across from each other. After what seems like an eternity of silence, one groans, "My daughter-in-law! May she buy a hotel with a thousand rooms, and die in every one of them!" This sudden eruption always brings the house down with laughter as the audience imagines this curse in graphic detail.
Every human heart erupts periodically, pouring out those things hidden within. When it happens to us, we are often stunned that what causes us unspeakable pain might seem funny to others.
In Messiah we are better able to connect with one another than are those who are in the worldto "rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep" (Romans 12:15). Yeshua told his disciples that one of the ways the world would recognize that they were his followers was "that [they] keep on loving each other" (John 13:34).
Lonely humanity will notice that our love for and sensitivity toward one another is different from what surrounds them. They will see Messiah Yeshua in us.
...Seek opportunities to "do what is good to everyone, and especially to the family of those who are trustingly faithful" (Galatians 6:10). I will call on God to cause this love to lead many to the knowledge of him.
