The scribes and the Pharisees began thinking of the implications, saying, "Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, except God alone?"

The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling to His disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?"

Now the scribes and the Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find a reason to accuse Him.

saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised on the third day."

When He left that place, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be very hostile and to interrogate Him about many subjects,

And both the Pharisees and the scribes began to complain, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them."

And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people were trying to put Him to death,

On one of the days while He was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders confronted Him,

The scribes and the chief priests tried to lay hands on Him that very hour, and yet they feared the people; for they were aware that He had spoken this parable against them.

Some of the scribes answered and said, "Teacher, You have spoken well."

"Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and love personal greetings in the marketplaces, and chief seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets,

And the chief priests and the scribes were trying to find a way to put Him to death, since they were afraid of the people.

When it was day, the Council of elders of the people assembled, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him away to their council chamber, saying,

Now the chief priests and the scribes stood there, vehemently charging Him.

Now the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in the act of adultery, and after placing her in the center of the courtyard,

On the next day, their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem;

And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and they came up to him and dragged him away, and brought him before the Council.

And a great uproar occurred; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and started arguing heatedly, saying, "We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"
