^(C1)The elder to the ^(C2)chosen ^(C3)lady and her children, whom I ^(C4)love in truth; and not only I, but also all who ^(C5)know the truth,

^(C1)because of the truth which remains ^(C2)in us and will be ^(C3)with us forever:

^(C1)Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us, from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

^(C1)I was overjoyed to find some of your children walking in truth, just as we have received a commandment to do from the Father.

Now I ask you, lady, ^(C1)not as though I were writing to you a new commandment, but the one which we have had ^(C1)from the beginning, that we ^(C2)love one another.

And ^(C1)this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, ^(C2)just as you have heard ^(C3)from the beginning, that you are to walk in it.

For ^(C1)many deceivers have ^(C2)gone out into the world, those who ^(C3)do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is ^(C1)the deceiver and the ^(C4)antichrist.

^(C1)Watch yourselves, ^(C2)that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.

^(F1)Anyone who ^(F2)goes too far and ^(C1)does not remain in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who remains in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, ^(C1)do not receive him into your house, and do not ^(F1)give him a greeting;

for the one who ^(F1)gives him a greeting ^(F2)(C1)participates in his evil deeds.

^(C1)Though I have many things to write to you, I do not want to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak ^(F1)face to face, so that ^(F2)your ^(C2)joy may be made complete.
