Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Then the man said, "At last this is bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called 'woman,' Because she was taken out of man."

He said, "I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself."

Then the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all the livestock, And more than any animal of the field; On your belly you shall go, And dust you shall eat All the days of your life;

Then to Adam He said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat from it'; Cursed is the ground because of you; With hard labor you shall eat from it All the days of your life.

By the sweat of your face You shall eat bread, Until you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return."

Now the man named his wife Eve, because she was the mother of all the living.

Adam had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, for, she said, "God has appointed me another child in place of Abel, because Cain killed him."

Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not remain with man forever, because he is also flesh; nevertheless his days shall be 120 years."

Then God said to Noah, "The end of humanity has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of people; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth.

Then Noah and his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives with him entered the ark because of the waters of the flood.

Therefore it was named Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

Now there was a famine in the land; so Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a time, because the famine was severe in the land.

"Please say that you are my sister so that it may go well for me because of you, and that I may live on account of you."

But the LORD struck Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.

The angel of the LORD said to her further, "Behold, you are pregnant, And you will give birth to a son; And you shall name him Ishmael, Because the LORD has heard your affliction.

"Suppose the fifty righteous are lacking five, will You destroy the entire city because of five?" And He said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there."

"Now look, I have two daughters who have not had relations with any man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do not do anything to these men, because they have come under the shelter of my roof."

for we are about to destroy this place, because their outcry has become so great before the LORD that the LORD has sent us to destroy it."

But he hesitated. So the men grasped his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, because the compassion of the LORD was upon him; and they brought him out and put him outside the city.
