Bridgeway Bible Dictionary
The mountains Ebal and Gerizim were in central Canaan and stood opposite each other on either side of the town of Shechem. The town and the mountains were closely linked in some important events in Israel’s history (Joshua 8:32-35; Joshua 24:1; for details see SHECHEM).
