Easton's Bible Dictionary

(Occurring only Isaiah 13:21 . Heb. ochim, i.e., "shrieks;" hence "howling animals"), a general name for screech owls (howlets), which occupy the desolate palaces of Babylon. Some render the word "hyaenas."
