Holman Bible Dictionary
(ach' zihb) or ACZIB (NIV) Place name meaning, “deceitful.” 1. Town in southern Judah, perhaps modern Tel el-Beida near Lachish (Joshua 15:44 ). Micah 1:14 makes a wordplay using Achzib, literally the houses of deceitfulness will be deceitful. 2. A border town of Asher ( Joshua 19:29 ) which the Israelite tribe could not conquer (Judges 1:31 ). It may be modern Tel Akhziv, near Acco.
