Flagstaff
Holman Bible Dictionary
A pole on which a standard is displayed (Isaiah 30:17 ). The same Hebrew term is translated mast elsewhere (Isaiah 33:23; Ezekiel 27:5 ). The REB used the translation mast at Isaiah 30:17 as well. The NAS preferred the translation flag for this text though the margin note, pole, can account for all occurrences of the term.
