Holman Bible Dictionary

(kay' nuh) Place name meaning, “place of reeds.” 1. The name of a brook that forms part of the boundary between Ephraim and Manasseh (Joshua 16:8; Joshua 17:9 ). Some of the cities of Manasseh, however, were south of the brook Kanah (Joshua 16:9 ). Identified by some with the modern wadi Qanah. 2. A city on the northern border of Asher (Joshua 19:28 ). Identified with modern Qana, about six miles southeast of Tyre. Not to be confused with Cana of the New Testament.
