Holman Bible Dictionary
Subject to death in contrast to God, who is immortal or free from death (Job 4:17; Romans 1:23 ). The mortal body is subject to sin (Romans 6:12 ), to decay (1 Corinthians 15:53-54 ), and to death (2 Corinthians 4:11 ). See Anthropology; Immortality .
