Observed, Signs to Be
Holman Bible Dictionary
Translation of the Greek parateresis ( Luke 17:20 ) meaning, “observation” or “observance.” The Lucan context suggests that the intended meaning is that the coming of God's kingdom is not preceded by visible signs so that one could say, “Lo, here it is.” Other interpreters suggest that the kingdom is not preceded by observance of a Jewish festival (such as the Passover) or brought on by adherence to ceremonial law.
