Partition

Holman Bible Dictionary

Something which divides, especially an interior dividing wall. NAS referred to the veil separating the holy place from the holy of holies as a partition (Exodus 26:33 ). KJV referred to the gold chains separating the same two rooms in the Temple as a partition (1 Kings 6:21 ); compare NIV). Christ abolished “the middle wall of partition” through His death (Ephesians 2:14 ). Christ abolished not only the hostility between Jews and Gentiles (Ephesians 2:15 ) but also made possible full fellowship of humanity with God (Ephesians 2:16 ).
