Upper Room
Holman Bible Dictionary
An upstairs room chosen by Jesus in which to hold a final meal with His disciples before His arrest (Mark 14:14-15 ). Jesus commanded two of His followers to prepare the room and the meal. Tradition holds that the disciples gathered in this room following Jesus' ascension (Acts 1:13 ). More than a century after Christ's ministry on earth the room believed to be the one in which the meal was eaten was made into a shrine and still is commemorated today.
