Wool
Holman Bible Dictionary
The thick hair forming the coat especially of sheep and some other animals. It was made into thread and used to make clothing, blankets, and other articles. It was one of the major economic factors in Israel and the surrounding countries. Gideon used a piece of wool to determine God's will for his life (Judges 6:35-40 ). Wool was also used as a symbol of whiteness and purity (Isaiah 1:18 ). See Cloth, Clothing; Sheep .
