BANQUET . In AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ‘banquet’ and ‘banqueting’ always mean wine-drinking, not feasting generally. Thus Song of Solomon 2:4 ‘He brought me to the banqueting house’ (Heb. ‘the house of wine’), 1 Peter 4:3 ‘banquetings’ (Gr. ‘drinkings,’ RV [Note: Revised Version.] ‘carousings’). See Meals.
