Morrish Bible Dictionary
Used in scripture for any one that had the oversight or leadership of others. Genesis 39:4,5 , etc. In the A.V. it is once the translation of ἐπίσκοπος, Acts 20:28 , which is elsewhere translated BISHOP, q.v.
