Cornelius Cornelii a Lapide
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Jesuit exegete, born Bocholt, Flemish Limburg, 1567; died Rome, Italy, 1637. He taught at Louvain and Rome. His commentaries on the Bible, in twenty-four volumes, complete except for the Book of Job and the Psalms, are highly esteemed. They were intended not merely for historical and scientific study of Holy Writ, but also for pious meditation and pulpit exposition.
