English physician famed as the discoverer of the circulation of the blood. Born April 1, 1578 at Folkestone, England; died June 3, 1657. Educated at the King's School, Canterbury, at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, and the University of Padua. Married to Elizabeth Brown, daughter of the court physician to Elizabeth I. Doctor at Saint Bartholomew's hospital in London. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
