Last Supper

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

The last meal taken by Our Lord with His Apostles, the night before His Passion, when He instituted the Blessed Eucharist, gave them His last instruction, and uttered His prayer for them, as narrated near the end of each Gospel. Among the masters who have represented this subject in art are: Da Vinci, Gaddi, Ghirlandajo, Juanes, Lanini, Luini, Murillo, Pourbus, Sarto, Titian, Van Dyck, Vasari, and Veronese.
