Lying

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

A lack of conformity between speech and mind; discord between what one says and what one thinks to be true, but not necessarily between what one says and what is true. God's words cannot be at variance with his thought, for God is essential holiness. Nor can man speak otherwise than as he thinks without marring the attribute of holiness in himself, that is, without doing wrong.
