People's Dictionary of the Bible

Rachel (râ'chel), an ewe. The daughter of Laban and wife of Jacob. Her history is given in Genesis, chaps. 29-35. She died after giving birth to Benjamin, and was buried near the road from Bethlehem to Jerusalem. Genesis 35:19.
