Abin B. Rab Ḥisda
The 1901 Jewish Encyclopedia
A Palestinian amora, a disciple of R. Johanan (Giṭ. 5b). In addition to some halakic opinions, a few exegetical remarks by him are preserved in the midrashic literature, from which it appears that he was a linguist and tried to define the meaning of Hebrew Biblical words by reference to cognate languages (Tan. Ki Tissa, ed. Buber; Pesiḳ. R.; Cant. R. to 7:3 and 9).
