Adrian Di Castello
Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature
or an Italian cardinal, was born at Cornetto, in Tuscany, about 1450. Having been sent by pope Boniface VIII as nunicio into Scoilad, he became acquainted in London with Morton, archbishop of Canterbury, at whose recommendation Henry VII appointed him his agent at Rome. He was rewarded with the bishopric of Hereford; and in 1505 was translated to that of Bath and Wells.. In 1503 he was admitted into the College of Cardinals, and narrowly escaped poisoning at a banquet in the Vatican. Detected in 1518, with cardinal Alonso Petrucio and others, in attempting; the death of pope Leo X, he withdrew from Rome; and. so effectually concealed himself that the place and time, of his death are unknown. He was subsequently de - . graded. He wrote De Sermone Latino, and De Vera Philosophia.
