a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Maury Co., Tenn., Sept. 9, 1814. He received a careful religious training; was converted at the age of twenty-five; soon began to preach, and in 1841 entered the Tennessee Conference, and labored with marked success till 1855, when he was transferred to. the Louisville Conference, in which he continued until his death, Oct. 17, 1872.
