a Free-will Baptist minister, was born at Providence, R.I., March 31, 1788. In early life he united with the Congregationalist Church at Providence, and soon after completed his school education. After having for some time been in successful. business, he united with the First Baptist Church in his native city, and later went to Philadelphia, where, under the tuition of Reverend Dr. William Stoughton, he pursued a course of theological study. Returning to Providence for six years, he was pastor of the newly organized Third Baptist Church in that city. He then became a member of the Free-will Baptist Church at Olneyville, and was soon chosen 'chaplain of what is known as "The Dexter Asylum," continuing in that position for twenty years. He was a frequent contributor to the Morning Star. His death occurred in 1870. He left behind him the savor of a good name, and the example of a useful, exemplary life.
