(called il Moncalvo), an eminent Piedmontese painter, was born at Montalbano, in Montferrat, in 1568.. His best oil paintings are, St. Peter, in the Chiesa della Croce; St. Theresa, in the church of that name; the Descent from the Cross, which many consider his masterpiece, in San Gaudenzio, at Novara; also, the Raising of Lazarus and the Miracle of the Loaves.
