a Presbyterian minister, was born in 1772 in Prince Edward County, Va. He entered Hampden-Sidney College at the age of fourteen. He was licensed. to preach the gospel by the Hanover Presbytery in 1792, and in the same year went as a missionary to Kentucky. He returned to Virginia in 1799, and accepted a call to the Presbyterian Church at Staunton. He died Aug. 27,1851. He was a man of vigorous intellect and great self-command.
